Reconnect with your Creative Heartbeat
Have you found yourself a bit rushed, disconnected, or as poet Mary Oliver says, “breathing just a little and calling it a life?”
Are you longing to take a decadent slice of time that’s all yours? Time to stretch into your fullness, to greet your true self again (oh, so that’s what you look like, I had forgotten!). Time to remember what matters most, and to tap back into your creative seeds and desires?
If so (and honestly, isn’t this what we ALL need from time to time?), I would love for you to join us in Scottsdale, Arizona for the Women’s Creative Renewal and Writing Retreat.
It’s time to slow down and come home to yourself – the self who was there before demands of family, work and societal expectations all got in the way.
“My life had started to feel so stagnant, like it was atrophied. Everything shrunk down to the roles I played. I had loved doing them… I really had, but they were drying up, and they weren’t really me. Do you understand? I felt there had to be some other life beneath the one I had, like an underground river or something, and that I would die if I didn’t dig down to it.” – Sue Monk Kidd
Let’s dig down to that creative river and see what’s there.
Maybe you’ve been wanting to write — perhaps start a memoir, a blog, or even journaling? Or perhaps you are in transition and wondering what’s next? Maybe you want to create a small business that would truly feed you on all levels? Or share your wisdom with the world through teaching or speaking?
It’s also possible you simply want to reconnect daily with what enlivens and fulfills you. You want to wake up your creative muse. The truth is that once we tap into our creative selves, our energy begins to flow and everything around us benefits, from our everyday lives to our relationships and our work. Our inner river nourishes everything around us.
The imagination needs moodling – long, inefficient, happy idling, dawdling and puttering. Those people who are always briskly doing something and as busy as waltzing mice, they have little, sharp, staccato ideas… but they have no slow, big ideas.” – Barbara Ueland.
Here we will take the time to let our big ideas emerge… to listen from the stillness. From that space, our truest, most alive self emerges. We hear what matters most…

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be creative to attend? No! Well, let me say that another way. We are ALL creative, and that’s what we’ll access throughout the day. The focus is removing blocks to your true self and your creativity. So even if you’ve never written or done anything that traditionally would be called “creative,” it is the perfect place for you to be. All you need is a desire to understand yourself better and reconnect with your creative heartbeat, which we all have.
I am a writer who has been feeling stuck. Will this retreat help me? Yes. In this retreat we will be clearing away blocks to any creative activity, from writing to living your dream. Women who want to jump start their writing attend, as do those who don’t call themselves writers but may want to explore it.
I’m feeling a little nervous since I’ve never done anything like this before. What will happen here? I totally understand! I feel the same way when I attend new things, and that’s why I’m so sensitive to it. My primary goal in these gatherings is safety. No one is ever required to share. Period. It’s all about YOU discovering what you need, in an environment that feels safe, welcoming and inspiring. Tired? Then rest. Women at my retreats have full permission to do what they need. We will have time to journal, do some easy, yet powerful exercises, and share in small groups so we feel heard. And finally, the atmosphere is always one of non-judgment and inclusivity.
Location: A lovely, private residence in Scottsdale, Arizona. Address given in early October.
And because we don’t want to leave you hanging after the retreat…
We have bonuses that will keep feeding your creative inspiration:
- Extend the Retreat Teleconference: A complimentary invitation to a special post-retreat tele-conference where we can check in on how we are doing and receive laser coaching to clear away any blocks.
- A complimentary copy of the ebook “Backyard Pearls: Cultivating Wisdom and Joy in Everyday Life.”
- Creative Soul Community: Complimentary membership in an online community that includes a private Facebook page to share writing, resources and support.

I’m so glad that I said “yes” to myself!
I went to Carolyn’s Writing Retreat right after my child left for college, and it was nothing less than life changing! First, my old confidence returned. I got a break from the busyness of my brain, which led to a deep sense of self-renewal. In fact, I was able to access creative depths I didn’t even know I had.
The experience took me away from my mundane living and for the first time in a long time, I felt fully, blissfully alive. Although I had lost hope that I could ever write, at the retreat I not only regained that hope, but I now consider myself a writer.
I almost didn’t go, because I don’t usually give myself permission to indulge in something like this, but thankfully my husband kept encouraging me. I’m so glad that I said “yes” to myself!
Creatively coax your bravest, most authentic voice
Carolyn’s writing retreats wrap you in the luxury of space, time, and self-care to nurture your inner voice that is yearning to flow through your pen to paper. Her gentle processes creatively coax your bravest, most authentic voice to emerge, dancing away from the critic that might be keeping you stuck.
My writer’s heart burst open
Carolyn holds the space so beautifully and with such a sense of safety and nurturing that your creative self can’t help but find its way to the surface and blossom. Reluctance falls away and even latent ability awakens. I began with an open writer’s mind and through the exercises, my writer’s heart burst open too. Carolyn helped me re-establish a vital connection within myself as a creative writer, and for that I’m super grateful!
A sense of fun and adventure
Carolyn’s topics for reflection, questions for discussion, poems, and exercises created a retreat perfect for rewriting my goals for a better fit for what I want and where I am in my life now. My sense of my current book (process and product) shifted dramatically during the retreat. I’m looking forward to writing my 4th book with a sense of fun and adventure and none of the foreboding that seemed a necessary part of the earlier publications.
Creative self just overflowing
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The retreat was even more wonderful than I ever imagined it to be. I came away from it with my creative self just overflowing. When I went to bed that night, I experienced my mind and heart creating haiku’s!! It was so fun that I had to get up and start writing them down! So thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to release my muse and embrace my creativity again.
Get unblocked and find joy and pleasure
Carolyn is amazing. Her ability to help people find their voice, tap into what inspires them, get unblocked and find joy and pleasure in writing is a huge gift. She’s warm, nurturing, encouraging, creates a safe space to help you access your inner wisdom and really honors each and every participant. A small investment with a huge return. I can’t wait for the next retreat!
